GMO's: A short form for genetically modified organisms. When certain characteristics of a species have an identified gene location on DNA these genes can then be transferred to other species through a host. The hope is that the positive characteristics of one species can then be transferred to another. For more information about this process please refer to the excellent article in Wikipedia. Reading your product labels. You will see on many of our products one or two dates. These dates will ensure that our customers are experiencing our products fresh and delicious. When we send out a fresh product we give a date called "Best before if fresh" this date is a reminder to our stores and customers to go ahead and freeze or cook this fresh item on or before this date. The "Best before if frozen" date is for product that has been frozen and this is a suggested date to cook and enjoy this product before. By following these dates you will be assured of a great tasting food experience!
If you receive a product that has a best before date without any mention of a fresh verses frozen date then the date on the package is the suggested freezing date if you are not ready to cook and eat it. It does not mean the product is out of date. Confusing, but we are working at creating a label that will correct this issue. Thank you for your patience as we sort this out. Feel free to call us if you have any further questions.
Is your fish caught wild in the ocean? Yes! All our seafood comes from the cold ocean and is caught by the hook and line method. There are several articles in 'About Organics' that describe how our fisherman do this and why it is such an environmentally important way to protect sea life and ensure you are getting the highest quality of fish available.
What are the Celebration or the Hallelujah brand products? When we make a prepared product for you , like meatballs for example, we use organic beef but they are not produced in a certified organic facility so we cannot label them organic. Other products have organic ingredients plus non-organic ingredients. Our pies are all made with traditionally raised meats, organic vegetables and seasonings with some non-organic ingredients as well. All our prepared product labels will list meat as organic or traditionally raised. For more clarity on these two choices click on "About Organic."
What are Hallelujah's Cow's fed? They are pasture fed then before they are processed they are given; oats, barley, wheat, flax, peas, and green plants. They are not given any corn at all.
